Creeping Red and other Fine Fescues are the Best
choices for shady areas. --- For extreme shade areas you might
want to consider a blend of Creeping, Hard and Chewings such as is
included in the Mid America Super Shade / Bluegrass Mixture.
These three grasses tend to compliment each other in various shade
situations and soil profiles.
For Northern Bluegrass lawn areas we have several shade
mixtures that offer improved performance:
In both Northern and Transition areas... Creeping Red
used as a mix or as a monostand is an outstanding choice.
Chewings and Hard are adapted to heavier shade and various soil

Tall Fescues are planted extensively in the Transition
zone all the way into upper Southern zones. Adding creeping
red into a Tall Fescue blend results in a good solution for shade
problems in Tall Fescue lawns. Blends such as the EnviroShade
mixture provide a ready solution for a quality Tall Fescue lawn.
